THE COLLECT for Sunday, 25th January - Conversion of St Paul
Almighty God,
who caused the light of the gospel
to shine throughout the world
through the preaching of your servant Saint Paul:
grant that we who celebrate his wonderful conversion
may follow him in bearing witness to your truth;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

THE READINGS
New Testament: Acts 9:1-22
Gospel: Matt 19:27-end

POST COMMUNION PRAYER
Almighty God,
who on the day of Pentecost
sent your Holy Spirit to the apostles
with the wind from heaven and in tongues of flame,
filling them with joy and boldness to preach the gospel:
by the power o f the same Spirit
strengthen us to witness to your truth
and to draw everyone to the fire of your love;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

To think about this week:

I ask not wealth, but power to take
and use the things I have, aright;
Not years, but wisdom that shall make
my life a profit and delight.
Phoebe Cary

and on this day in 1759:

Birth of Robert Burns in Alloway, South
Ayrshire (d. 1796), Scotland's national
poet.

Please pray for:

Peace in the world. Asking God's blessing on all people who suffer in conflicts the world over. This week praying especially for the peoples of Gaza and Israel.

For all Christians that we may find our unity in Jesus Christ our Lord.

David and Hannah Cleugh who will be joining the Team as Curates this summer.

All who live in Thame Road, Newington.

The sick in body, mind or spirit.

The repose of the souls of all those who have died. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
