15 April 2009

THE COLLECT for Sunday, 19th April 2009 - Easter 2
Almighty Father,
you have given your only Son to die for our sins
and to rise again for our justification:
grant us so to put away the leaven of malice
and wickedness
that we may always serve you
in pureness of living and truth;
through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ
our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

THE READINGS
New Testament: Acts 4:32-35
Gospel: John 20:19-end

POST COMMUNION PRAYER
Lord God our Father,
through our Saviour Jesus Christ
you have assured your children of eternal life
and in baptism have made us one with him:
deliver us from the death of sin
and raise us to new life in your love,
in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
by the grace of Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen

To think about this week:

What does your anxiety do? It does not
relieve tomorrow of its sorrows, but it
saps today of its strength. It does not
make you escape the evil, but makes
you less able to deal with it when it
comes.
Bassma Mikhail

and on this day in 1882:

Death of Charles Darwin (b.1809 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire), naturalist, and pioneer in the field of evolutionary biology.

Please pray for:

Peace in the world. Asking God's blessing on all people who suffer as a result of violence the world over, and especially for the people of Northern Ireland.

All victims of the earthquake in central Italy.

All who struggle to receive the Good News of the Resurrection, that their minds and hearts may be opened.

In the Diocese: all Governors of Church of England schools and all who work in the Diocesan Education Department.

Hannah and David Cleugh, soon to join us as Curates for the Team, praying that a house for them to live in will be found.

All who live in Oatlands Close, Warborough.

The sick in body, mind or spirit.

The repose of the souls of all those who have died. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
