22 April 2009

THE COLLECT for Sunday, 26th April 2009 - Easter 3
Almighty Father,
who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples
with the sight of the risen Lord:
give us such knowledge of his presence with us,
that we may be strengthened and sustained by
his risen life
and serve you continually in righteousness and
truth;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

THE READINGS
New Testament: Acts 3:12-19
Gospel: Luke 24:36b-48

POST COMMUNION PRAYER
Living God,
your Son made himself known to his disciples
in the breaking of bread:
open the eyes of our faith,
that we may see him in all his redeeming work;
who is alive and reigns, now and for ever.
Amen

To think about this week:

Education is an admirable thing but it is
well to remember from time to time that
nothing that is worth knowing can be
taught. Oscar Wilde

and on this day in 1992:

Celebration of Orthodox Easter by thousands of Russians for the first time since Bolshevik leaders vowed to crush Christianity.

Please pray for:

Peace in the world. Asking God's blessing on all people who suffer as a result of violence the world over.

All who struggle to receive the Good News of the Resurrection, that their minds and hearts may be opened.

In the Diocese: all involved in theological education and those to be ordained this year.

Hannah and David Cleugh, soon to join us as Curates for the Team, praying that a house for them to live in will be found.

All who live in Orchard Close, Shillingford.

The sick in body, mind or spirit.

The repose of the souls of all those who have died.
May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
